Environmental Litigation Summer Associate
DiCello Levitt is seeking passionate and thoughtful law students to join our Environmental Litigation Practice Group as Summer Associates in our Chicago office. This immersive program offers hands-on experience in cases that address environmental harm, corporate negligence, and community impact. Summer Associates will work alongside experienced trial attorneys to support litigation that protects public health, natural resources, and vulnerable populations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct extensive legal research
- Assist with trial preparation, including drafting motions and reviewing evidence
- Contribute to case strategy development
- Support litigation involving environmental contamination, toxic exposure, and related matters
- Attend proceedings and team meetings as appropriate
- Collaborate with attorneys across offices and assist other teams as needed
Required Qualifications
- Completion of at least one year of law school at an accredited institution
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Demonstrated interest in environmental law or public interest litigation
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- Professionalism and discretion in handling sensitive client matters
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience in litigation through internships, clinics, or coursework
- Familiarity with legal research platforms such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
