Electrical Tester

What you’ll do:

The Electrical Tester sets up, operates, and maintains a variety of test equipment to perform electrical, electronic, and mechanical tests on a variety of control equipment. Electrical Tester I is expected to continue through tester progression to Electrical Tester II, following the documented timeline and expectation provided in the test book.

 

In this function, you will:

•    Test equipment, ensure it meets customer specifications as well as safety and quality requirements under supervision.
•    Ensure a safe work environment for self and others and ensure safety procedures are followed.
•    Constantly evolve in product and process knowledge; requiring additional classroom work, assigned reading, and training from an Electrical Tester II or Engineer.  
•    Build positive relationships that support job objectives and a team environment. 
•    Develop rapport and establish relationships with customers; will interface heavily with customers on witness tests under the supervision and guidance of an Electrical Tester II. 
•    Record data and write reports, process paperwork timely, accurately, and with accountability. 
•    Follow procedures with accuracy, efficiently and with strict attention to details. 
•    Troubleshoot and repair various problems that could occur during course of test such as warranty and non-warranty problems; requires Tester to think critically to solve problems with the assistance of an Electrical Tester II or Engineer. 
•    Continuously improve work environment processes; may require Tester to suggest ways to develop test setups and new procedures when current procedures are inadequate. 
•    Troubleshoot and repair warranty and non-warranty problems. 
•    Recognize and report quality issues through the correct channels as they arise. 

•  Perform electrical testing or service work (i.e. physical and mental activities) on equipment ranging from 5VDC (logic devices, zone interlocking signals, etc.) up to 30KVAC three phase power.
•  Assist Design and Application Engineers with special test projects.
•    Perform other tasks as required.

 

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • An associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience with electrical concepts such as electricity, motors and controls, PLC programming, and the fundamentals of AC/DC.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.  Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered.  Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with protective relays.
  • Previous work experience troubleshooting electrical and/or mechanical problems. 
  • Previous experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.

 

Skills:

  • Advanced Troubleshooting Technique. Test Equipment Operation, and computer skills.
  • Advanced Test Equipment Operation
  • Strong knowledge of the company's electrical, electronic, and mechanical products. 
  • Knowledge and practice of safety precautions related to working with electrical and electronic equipment. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide service and represent company interests in developing customer relationships to assure long-term customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to repetitively work at elevated heights, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, kneeling with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Ability to repetitively lift, hold, push, pull, handle up to 35 pounds without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime and weekends.
