Marketing and Event Manager
SUMMARY: Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing MILC’s marketing, communications, and public relations strategies to enhance visibility, strengthen community relationships, and support fundraising and outreach initiatives. This role will also serve as the lead for planning, coordinating, and executing MILC events, such as the Disability Pride Festival, Sensitive Santa, Giving Tuesday, and other community engagement activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Duties include but not limited to:
Promotional and Outreach Materials
Create visually appealing and informative promotional materials, including branded freebies, brochures, flyers, posters, and handouts
Ensure materials adhere to MILC’s brand identity and ADA guidelines
Social Media Strategy
Research, design and implement social media strategy to reach and engage target audience
Utilize graphic design and copywriting skills to create compelling content
Write alt-text and image descriptions for accessibility
Schedule posts and analyze performance using tools such as Meta Business Suite, and TikTok Creator Tools
Website Management
Maintain and update MILC’s website with current services and information
Ensure website is accessible according to ADA guidelines
Optimize content for SEO to improve visibility and reach
Email Marketing
Manage and grow email marketing list
Design and implement effective email marketing campaigns
Newsletter Production
Produce quarterly newsletter, including design and layout
Gather articles from staff, coordinate editing, and ensure timely distribution
Manage and update mailing list
Advertising, Analytics and Google Ads Grants
Track and analyze marketing metrics, such as website traffic, social media engagement, and email open rates, to measure campaign effectiveness and inform future strategies.
Measure, optimize and assist with overall advertising efforts, including creating and monitoring Google Ads Grant advertising
Event and Fundraising Support
Serve as the lead or co-lead coordinator for MILC fundraising and outreach events
Support grant proposals with participant impact stories and program highlights.
Create event marketing materials and promote events through various channels to maximize attendance and support
Strengthen donor stewardship by creating compelling and consistent messaging.
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing, communications, or event management, preferably in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
Proficiency in graphic design tools, copywriting, image, and video editing
Familiarity with ADA guidelines, SEO best practices, and social media analytics
Self-starter with ability to work independently
Strong organizational and project management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiar with the philosophy and concepts of independent living
Ability to maintain confidential information including but not limited to financial data, consumer information or other non-public proprietary agency information
Effective means of transportation to the worksite
Ability to travel within MILC’s service area, to various community/public settings and statewide
Ability to pass a periodic WI Caregiver Background Check including Department of Justice Criminal Record Check
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sit at desk or table, view computer monitors, handle papers, and visually inspect graphic designs, written text, photography, and video.
