Advancement Intern: Donor Experience Intern
The UT Office of Advancement is seeking a Donor Experience student intern for the Office of Communications and Donor Experience team. Donor Experience at UT Knoxville includes, but is not limited to, donor stewardship including gift acknowledgments and endowment reporting, donor relations efforts such as donor/student events, donor recognition signage, custom impact reporting, and overall efforts to show the impact donors make at UT.
This position is project specific but will also include general support of the Donor Experience efforts related to high-value projects such as FY25 Endowment Reporting, Big Orange Give campaign, Big Orange Family campaign, donor/student events, and general stewardship support. The project work includes the compilation of two critical databases:
- UT Knoxville campus database of named facilities including interior and exterior spaces named through philanthropy
- UT Knoxville campus database of history of holders of endowed faculty positions created through philanthropy.
This intern will:
Facilities Signage Database
- Collect unit-based lists of named facilities
- Compile central database of named facilities and fill in gaps for any missing information
- Integrate central database with UTK Facilities building numbers, square footage, etc.
- Research and incorporate ACE CRM donor information
- Work with DE, Facilities, and UTFI to develop strategy for loading data both into the ACE CRM and the UTK Facilities databases as well as to develop reports for extracting the data for unit use.
Named Endowment Holder Database
- Collect unit-based lists of faculty endowments
- Research past holders via various UTK sources
- Curate central database of holders
- Work with DE and UTFI to develop strategy for loading data into ACE and developing reports for extracting data for unit use.

Hourly Wage: $12/hour
Hours Per Week: Up to 20 hours per week
Time Frame: September 2025 – June 2026

Learning Outcomes for the Donor Experience Intern:
By the conclusion of this experience the intern will be able to:
- Learn to compile data from various source systems into comprehensive databases for the purpose of reporting, historical data documentation, and ultimately for the business purpose of stewarding donors
- Contribute to strategy development for the It Takes a Volunteer campaign as well as for general donor stewardship and recognition.
- Understand the overall purpose of a positive donor experience within an Advancement enterprise in higher education.
