
Deputy Highway Commissioner
Chippewa County is accepting applications for a Deputy Highway Commissioner. The job duties of the Deputy Highway Commissioner include but are not limited to assist the Highway Commissioner in the overall leadership, management, and project coordination of the Highway Department; and to provide responsive, courteous and efficient services to County residents and the general public.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with a minimum of three (3) years of civil engineering, highway department or transportation construction industry experience required -OR- an Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field with a minimum of six (6) years of highway department or transportation construction industry experience required -OR- a High School diploma with a minimum of ten (10) years of highway department or transportation construction industry experience required. Minimum of two (2) years previous supervisory experience required. Federal bridge inspection certification required within one (1) year from date of hire. National Highway Institute Right-of-way Acquisition certification within six (6) months from date of hire. Must have professional work experience in highway department operations. Professional Engineering registration in the State of Wisconsin preferred. A valid driver’s license and a cell phone is required. Starting Wage: $40.12 - $45.59 per hour depending on qualifications plus an excellent fringe benefit package. Maximum Wage: $54.71 per hour.
