AmeriCorps College Coach

Position Title: AmeriCorps Kentucky College Coach –Centre College First-Gen Office Coordinator AmeriCorps Kentucky College Coach

Location: Centre College, Danville, KY 

Service Term: Full-Time (FT) Term of Service, ASAP to July 31, 2026 (Service can be renewed for up to 4 terms.)

Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday (some evenings and weekends may be required)

Living Allowance/Pay: $1810 per month in living allowance, less FICA and other applicable taxes. (Income is excluded from SNAP, KY Medicaid, and Section 8)

Benefits: Healthcare and childcare eligibility, federal student loan forbearance eligibility, professional development, and an education award of up to $6895 upon completing service (depending on the number of months of service) for members beginning service in August. Members can also apply for SNAP, health and child care benefits as needed, per AmeriCorps program guidelines.

Eligibility Requirements: Members must be at least 17 years old and a U.S. Citizen, U.S. national, or legal permanent resident alien. Must be able to pass a National Service Criminal History Check.

Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree (required):

  • Associates degree, OR 60 credits completed toward bachelor’s degree
  • OR, one year of college (including completion of College Algebra and English 101/102) AND experience as a tutor or mentor.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others.

Vision:

The First–Generation Office at Centre College has an opening for an AmeriCorps Kentucky College Coach. Centre is fortunate to have a robust support system and programming for all of our first-gen students. We are seeking a person to fill an entry level position to assist with our efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the First-Gen Office programs in planning, organization, program implementation, marketing, data collection and assessment
  • Kessler Scholar group programming coordination and delivery
  • Collaborate and communicate with the other national Kessler schools
  • Supervise and guide the Centre Firsts student club for first-gen students
  • Aid in the selection process for the Grissom and Kessler programs
  • Promotional assistance for first-gen programs
  • Other duties as assigned

Reporting Requirements: Members are required to submit monthly activity reports to help measure impact as well as bi-weekly time sheets. Will be required to submit monthly report to Coordinator/Director.

Desired Skills and Characteristics:

  • Interest in working with post-traditional students
  • Experience working with social media, creating flyers
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and software
  • Well-suited for those interested in careers in education, human services, and libraries

On-campus housing and dining hall meal plan is provided. Evening and weekend availability is expected. Some travel opportunities and professional development may be available.
