This Internship will be hybrid, and students must be located near one of our U.S. offices – Wellesley, MA; Kansas City, MO; Hartford, CT; Portland, ME; Milwaukee, WI.

 

The Role

We are seeking a motivated and curious individual to join our DevOps team as an intern. In this hybrid role, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of our technology operations, including maturing DevOps practices.

 

This internship is designed to provide a well-rounded experience in the Engineering and Product organization. By the end of the placement, you will have gained valuable insights into the various aspects of our technology operations and be better equipped to pursue a career in the technology industry.

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Analyze release process for various squads

Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines

Research new tools and capabilities

 

Core skill sets needed for this role:

Proficient with maintaining and creating CI/CD pipelines

Experience with software development life cycle and related tooling

Exposure to CI servers like Cloudbees Jenkins, open-source Jenkins, Artifactory, SonarQube and others - and their application to create CI/CD pipelines

Experience with code repositories such as Bitbucket, Github

Responsible for supporting end-to-end delivery of DevOps activities

Good collaborative and interpersonal skills with a willingness to learn

Pro-active team player who can also work independently

Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines.

Exposure to writing and implementing Ansible playbooks

Knowledge of Build Tools like Gradle, ANT, Maven

Exposure to WebSphere Liberty servers

Knowledge about microservices and their pipelines

Proficiency in dealing with Java based applications with Gradle/Maven

Knowledge around scripting languages like Groovy, Bash and GO

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

Good to have knowledge about node/react based CI/CD pipeline

Experience in designing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines for new software projects, right from project kickoff to production deployment and maintenance

Understanding of the DevSecOps ecosystem

Good to have exposure to security testing tools (eg SCA, SAST, etc)

 

The Candidate

 

To be eligible for this internship at Sun Life, you must meet the following requirements:

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university during the time of the internship (June 2026 - August 2026)

Currently pursuing a degree in a related area

Eligible to legally work in the United States

Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) during intern session
