Outreach & Education Intern Spring 2026

Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center (DARCC) 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Job Title: Outreach & Education Intern- Allies to Advocates 
Department: Education 
Reports To: Director of Education 

Summary: 
The Dallas Area Rape Crisis Center (DARCC) is committed to preventing sexual violence in North Texas and providing compassionate support to those impacted. The Outreach and  Education Intern will assist the Director of Education in managing Allies to Advocates, DARCC’s campus-based program. This internship provides a hands-on learning opportunity to develop skills in educational outreach, campus program coordination, and student engagement, while contributing to meaningful change on college campuses. 

Weekly Commitment: 
15-30  hours, scheduled based on availability, including occasional evening or weekend campus meetings and events as needed. Almost all hours are remote, but occasionally will need to be in Dallas (with advance notice). 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Support Campus Programming 

Work closely with the Director of Education to coordinate and support Allies to Advocates meetings and activities on participating campuses. 

Assist with recruiting and orienting new program members, providing guidance to support their involvement and engagement. 

Facilitate on-campus Allies to Advocates meetings, helping students organize initiatives, discussions, and events to promote awareness of sexual violence prevention and available resources. 

Act as a mentor for student leaders, providing advice and support for peer-led events and discussions. 

Educational Material Development 

Help develop educational materials, presentations, and social media content to enhance DARCC’s outreach efforts. 

Assist in creating and maintaining resources on topics such as sexual violence prevention, healthy relationships, and survivor support. 

Event Planning and Execution 

Support the planning and execution of awareness and fundraising events on campus, such as Take Back the Night and Sexual Assault Awareness Month activities. 

Track attendance, event participation, and outcomes for Allies to Advocates activities, providing regular updates to the Director of Education. 

Professional Development 

Successfully complete a 40-hour certified Sexual Assault Advocate Training Program, gaining essential knowledge and skills for working with survivors and promoting prevention. 

Build communication and program management skills through regular collaboration with student members, campus staff, and DARCC’s Education Department. 

Model DARCC’s Mission and Values 

Demonstrate a commitment to DARCC’s mission, goals, and values by modeling respectful and inclusive behaviors toward all individuals. 

Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned. 

Education and/or Experience: 

Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. 

Interest in sexual violence prevention, education, advocacy, and community engagement. 

Technology and Computer Skills: 

Proficiency with computers, social media platforms, and software programs necessary for communication and project tracking.
