Central Plant Mechanic

Mt. San Antonio Gardens is currently looking for a full time Central Plant Mechanic who is dependable, hardworking and capable of being a team player to join our company. This positions will perform repairs and will be responsible for routine preventive maintenance on a wide variety of HVAC and related equipment with minimal supervision. Equipment includes, but not limited to: chillers, steam boilers, boilers, air-handlers, commercial appliances, hydronic systems, pumps and motors and high voltage electrical components. Responsibilities

  • Performs minor repair work on HVAC and related equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Assists in making major repairs on HVAC and related equipment.
  • Maintains records as directed.
  • Subject to 24 hour call-in and irregular working hours as required.
  • Supports safety and housekeeping rules to promote on-the-job safety and harmonious working conditions.
  • In the absence of the Plant Engineering Manager, works as directed by the Vice President of Facilities or other designated person.
  • Works as required on unit renovations.
  • Carries out other duties as assigned by the Plant Engineering Manager

 

Requirements

  • Any combination of training and experience equivalent to 3 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of HVAC and related equipment.
  • Must have EPA certificate of completion - certified as a Technician I, II, III or more as required by 40 CFR 82 Subpart F
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic knowledge of hand tools.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (both orally and in writing) in English. 
  • Good physical condition and willingness to work under physically demanding conditions.
  • Valid California driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with residents, managers, peers, and other employees.
