Peer Tutor - Academic Success Center

The Academic Success Center is seeking a Peer Tutor for who will assist fellow students in understanding and mastering course material. Peer Tutors provide academic support, clarify concepts, and help students develop effective study strategies. 

We are currently hiring for: 

  • Math
  • Statistics
  • Health Sciences (Particularly HS 2000)
  • Engineering
  • Organic Chemistry

If you have OU undergraduate experience in one or more of the above disciplines, please apply today! We are seeking multiple tutors. 

 

Pay Rate: $15/hour

Duties:

  • Provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for students to learn
  • Conduct one-on-one and group tutoring sessions
  • Provide strategies to enhance understanding of course material
  • Utilize active listening to identify students' needs

Additional Information:

  • Shifts are determined by subject/course need and the tutor's course schedule.
  • Hours range Monday through Thursday 10am - 10pm and Fridays 10am - 3pm.
  • Current needs includes evening and afternoon availability. 

Qualifications:

  • Must be a currently enrolled OU student in a degree-seeking program with one or more listed courses completed at OU.
  • Second-semester freshman standing or higher
  • Minimum 3.7 GPA (A-) in the course(s) tutored
  • Adequate demonstration of time/task management skills
  • Must complete up to 10 hours of paid training toward tutor certification
  • Obtain a minimum of one recommendation form from a current OU faculty member. Faculty can access and complete the form using the following link: OU Faculty Recommendation Form
