Operations Internship:

Key Criteria: Seeking a sophomore or junior actively enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program 

Nature of Work: Support the LaPorte Operations group in designated projects including reformatting pricing pages, collecting dimensional inspection data to help develop statistically sound machine capabilities and assist Laporte's Safety Team in tracking training and maintaining training matrices.  

Location: LaPorte, Indiana

Applications Engineering – IT  or Computer Engineering:

Key Criteria: Seeking a junior (senior or grad student preferred) actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program, seeking medium or advanced knowledge in one of the following areas such as materials science, metallurgy, alloy properties.  Must have knowledge in using Excel, Power Point, Word and more.

Nature of Work: Support our Marketing team in analysis and compilation of alloy Haynes alloy properties vs. the data from competitor alloys. Also support market research activities.

Physical Metallurgy (Research & Technology):

Key Criteria: Seeking a sophomore or junior actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program who is interested in research and hands-on lab work.  Prefer one pursuing a Metallurgical/Materials Science degree with basic knowledge of general physical metallurgy and thermodynamics.

Nature of Work: To support existing product research & development projects related to high-performance high-temperature alloys through testing and microstructure characterization. Activities may include heat treatments, optical metallography, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), testing, and modeling.

Location: Kokomo, Indiana

Metallurgical Engineer (Research & Technology):

Key Criteria: Seeking a sophomore or junior actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program who is interested in research and hands-on lab work.  Prefer one pursuing a Metallurgical/Materials Science degree.

Nature of Work: Support an existing Research & Technology project in the areas of welding and/or additive manufacturing through testing and characterization of high-temperature and corrosion-resistant alloys.  Supporting activities may include mechanical testing, weldability testing, Greeble thermal-mechanical simulations, optical metallography, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) microstructure characterization techniques.

Information Technology:

Key Criteria: Seeking a College or university student pursing an IT related degree pathway such as Computer Engineering, Operational Technology, equipment installation and big data.  Knowledgeable in hardware/software diagnostics and repair, strong attention to detail and ability to successfully complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Nature of Work: Working within the IT department in the following areas: Operational Technology & Infrastructure knowledge (switches, routers, PLCs, machinery, and equipment).  Installation of new equipment and machinery (i.e., VIM, VAR, Forge). Interested in AI knowledge and experience, along with Data/Big Data knowledge – including reporting, analytics tools, visualization, and processes.
ERP application(s) (i.e., preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365) knowledge.
Coding (.NET)

Location: Kokomo, Indiana

Mechanical Engineering:

Key Criteria: Seeking at least a sophomore actively enrolled in a degree program, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology. Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Power Transmission and Structural Analysis. 

Nature of Work: Provide direct support to the Plant Engineering Department through participation in daily equipment troubleshooting projects, assisting with maintaining of mechanical drawings manually and on CAD systems, developing project work scopes, engineering specifications and schedules, and developing project management skills.

Corporate Inside Sales:

Key Criteria: Seeking at least a sophomore, actively enrolled in a Business, Management, Marketing or related program with aspirations of working in manufacturing sales.

Nature of Work: Support corporate inside sales focusing on sales development for existing and/or forthcoming investments and synergies, new and existing products portfolios and identifying process improvements.
