DESCRIPTION: The special projects intern will work across three organizations – LAGRANT COMMUNICATIONS, KLH & Associates, and The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF)

The LAGRANT Foundation (TLF), is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization based in Los Angeles established in 1998 by Mr. Kim L. Hunter to increase representation in the fields of advertising, marketing, and public relations by providing scholarships, career opportunities such as internships / fellowships / co-ops / entry level roles, career and professional development workshops, and mentorship opportunities to undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students from historically underrepresented communities.
RESPONSIBLE TO: CEO (LAGRANT COMMUNICATIONS)/
Managing Partner (KLH & Associates)/Chairman & CEO (The LAGRANT Foundation)
STATUS: Part-time – 15-20 hours per week
SALARY/WAGES: Total compensation commensurate with experience
CLASSIFICATION: Entry-level
LOCATION: In-person preferred; Remote possibility based on experience
LAGRANT COMMUNICATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide account support for the assigned account; conduct community outreach; write press releases, feature stories, media alerts, fact sheets, biographies, and general correspondence; pitch media; interact with media on a regular basis; research material for clients; be present during client meetings and conference calls; actively participate in meetings; participate in strategic creative brainstorming meetings; assist with new business opportunities; and go above and beyond the scope of work given.
KLH & ASSOCIATES RESPONSIBILITIES:
Draft job specifications, develop content for KLH & Associates’ website www.klhassociates.com, update the KLH & Associates website, draft and pitch stories to media about candidates placed, and position KLH & Associates as a premier multicultural executive search firm by generating story ideas that focus on human resources.
THE LAGRANT FOUNDATION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Social media outreach
- Media outreach
- Community outreach
- Administrative tasks
- Drafting press materials
- Event planning and coordination
QUALIFICATIONS:
- College juniors, seniors and recent graduates specializing in communications, public relations, marketing or journalism preferred
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, must be highly organized with the ability to multitask and must have a desire for a career in the communications industry
- Knowledge of Macintosh computers, including programs Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Candidates must be based in California and be able to meet in-person with the CEO
- Must be possess adequate time management skills, self-starter, ambitious, analytical, critical thinker, active listener and goal oriented.
- Prior agency experience is a plus.
- Social media knowledge and experience.
- A desire and a proven track record to generate RESULTS!!!
- Have an executive presence and poise.
- Critical and creative thinker. Able to apply intellectual curiosity to all aspects of this role.
