Mechanical Design Engineering Intern

Urschel designs and manufactures industrial cutting equipment for food processing and allied industries around the world from our global headquarters located in Chesterton, Indiana, U.S.A. Consumers purchase goods manufactured on Urschel cutting equipment on a daily basis. Advanced manufacturing technologies are utilized at our climate controlled, clean, and environmentally conscious facility. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineering Intern.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with drafting and drawing development
  • Assist design engineers with projects as needed such as drawing creation and release
  • Participate in brainstorming for designing new equipment and solving problems with existing equipment
  • Work on a team to redesign legacy equipment to meet new performance requirements and sanitary guidelines 
  • Complete special projects as needed and other duties assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program with a major in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Solid Works drafting knowledge a must
  • Must be entering Junior or Senior level standing with a current GPA of 2.8 or higher
  • Position to start summer 2026 (May 18 through Aug 14)
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without Visa sponsorship
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivated
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in a professional environment
  • Must possess a high level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm and confidentiality
