What you’ll do
As an Application Engineering Intern focusing specifically on color engineering, you will:
Gain hands-on experience in the consumer electronics industry by supporting engineering projects focused on color and surface properties.
Run lab-based color program engineering projects, contributing to product development and quality assurance.
Operate specialized lab equipment to measure color, gloss, and surface roughness, and prepare data for engineering analysis.
Perform studies and analyze experimental data to support engineering decisions and product improvements.
Collaborate closely with Color Lab Technicians to prepare samples and data presentations for customer-facing teams.
Develop foundational knowledge in materials science and application engineering through real-world lab work and cross-functional collaboration.
What makes you a good fit
An undergraduate student graduating in 2027, 2028 or 2029 pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology or Materials Science
Hands-on lab experience gained through academic coursework or prior internships
Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data entry, analysis, and reporting
Ability to quickly learn and safely operate various lab equipment, including CNC machines, spectrophotometers, and glossmeters
Strong interest in color science, adhesives, and the consumer electronics industry
Comfortable working in a collaborative lab environment as part of a large, cross-functional team

This internship is eligible for a housing stipend or relocation support.
Henkel’s Summer 2026 internship program starts on May 27th, 2026, and runs through mid-August.
Recruitment for our 2026 internships starts in late August 2025 and runs through early March 2026 or until all our positions are filled.

The salary for this role is $22 -$27/hour. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
