Location/Division Specific Information South San Francisco, CA Clinical Sequencing Division Discover Impactful Work: The Bioinformatics Internship position at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. offers an outstanding opportunity for students currently pursuing a degree or equivalent experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field. As an Intern II, you will have the unique chance to acquire hands-on experience collaborating with bioinformatics scientists in a dynamic research and development setting. You will be instrumental in the advancement and validation of software and assays for high throughput next generation sequencing. The internship program at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. offers participants an ambitious chance to create results, quickly gain credibility, and develop a strong company network. What will you do: • Understand the software/assay requirements and create tickets for the development team. • Design test cases to effectively test the implemented feature. • Complete performance testing and build benchmark datasets with different versions of the software. • Give oral presentations at internal meetings. How will you get here: Education: Currently enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate or 2-year master’s program for a degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, or a related field. Equivalent experience in the mentioned fields will also be considered. Experience: • Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment, python, and SQL. • Experience in using Jira and Confluence. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: • Strong communication skills. • Understanding of genomic data. Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $14.75–$28.75.

 

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
