General Description:  This is an opportunity for an experienced communicator to join our GoPasco team. The position is responsible to improve community access to transportation. The position requires the development and distribution of information explaining how to utilize the available transportation resources in meeting the diverse travel needs of the community.  

Essential Job Functions: Responsible for seeking, assessing, and establishing business and community partnership, and distribution of routes schedules, system pocket maps, brochures, and other printing materials at off-site locations.  Assists with relevant educational programs through presentations, promotional campaigns, exhibits, expos, fairs, schools, civic organizations, and other community business and community agencies. Assists strategic marketing program, social media and maintaining information on Public Transportation website. Coordinates and assists with the activities of paratransit services.

Responsible for maintaining GoPasco web site ADA compliance as per the Pasco County Information Technology Department requirements. Attends any training needed for such activities.   Ensures all documentation and content GoPasco generates for the web site meets all Federal and state ADA requirements.  Highlights non-compliance issues before uploading, converting all documents to become ADA complaint.  Advises GoPasco personnel on ADA requirement for potential documents.

Handles customer complaints, recommendations, and any other aspect of all GoPasco social media accounts. Maintains the image and professionalism of GoPasco on the social media accounts. Develops messaging consistent with GoPasco marketing plan. Works with GoPasco management to highlight positive and negative actions on social media accounts while participating in activities to enhance GoPasco messaging.

This is a highly responsible position that reports directly to the Public Transportation Assistant Director. Helps promote programs, special projects, and accomplishments by gathering, writing, and editing a variety of material to be pushed out on several platforms. Job duties can vary daily, as our internal and external customers guide our marketing, communications, and production activities. 

Focuses on the needs of our internal and external customers, while anticipating how those needs might change and how our service offerings can adapt accordingly. Provides outreach to allow customers increased access to health care, education, employment, social services, and activities that improve lives of vulnerable populations and the general public through coordinated transportation systems. Coordinates travel instructional program activities, which includes developing curriculum and instruction. Develops travel itineraries for fixed route service, including origin and destination determination. Maintains customer travel records as required including customer’s progress in response to training, customer’s knowledge of routes, transfers, and schedules. Acts as community liaison between GoPasco and other transportation providers in the Tampa Bay Region to build supportive community and regional transportation networks.  

Develops and finds presentation opportunities to citizen groups and organizations regarding local and regional transit services. Participates in public outreach events as directed. Works independently to establish and maintain distribution of schedules and promotional materials to outlets throughout Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando, and Hillsborough Counties. Responsible for GoPascos social media response to customer posts and comments on social media sites while providing a clear and consistent message per GoPasco marketing campaign and plan.Supports community outreach efforts by participating in special events such as parades, grand openings, new service Introductions and other special events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of a multi-service transportation system.
  • Knowledge of the principles and policies of public and business administration.
  • Ability to present complicated issues clearly and concisely, whether speaking or writing.
  • Ability to development and Implementation of effective communication that can include but not limited to content creation, digital and communications, social media marketing, media relations.
  • Ability to research, write and edit new releases, story pitches, video script, newsletters, website, and social media content in an active, conversational style. 
  • Multi-tasking and analytical skills.
  • Basic knowledge of marketing, advertising, and promotional activities.
  • Ability to research, analyze and assess relevant information in determining operational and marketing techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to perform value analysis.
  • Knowledge of ADA compliance. 
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain processional relationships with business leaders, public officials, and agency managers.
  • Ability to compile and complete reports and maintain records.
  • Ability to operate a computer and routine office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull heavy objects.

Minimum Requirements:

PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS:   Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects.  Requires working outdoors in all weather conditions.  Position requires walking, stooping, bending, climbing, and stretching.  Requires working at heights up to 50 feet above the ground from either a platform truck or bucket truck.  Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to walk long distances in inclement weather. 

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline and three (3) years' of professional experience in public transportation. Experience with various computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro. Experience with engaging text, photo, video, and digital media techniques.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS:  Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
