International Story Trainer

Summary of position:
Be an on-the-ground team member of StoryRunners by serving both internationally and
domestically as part of the School of Storying (SOS) team. The School of Storying is an
in-country fast-track residence workshop with local people who produce The Promise, a
series of Bible stories from Creation to the Return of Jesus in their own language in just
four weeks. You will play a vital role to see followers of Christ in communities of faith
among unreached people groups in oral cultures!

Who we are:
StoryRunners is a Cru ministry that equips people to produce oral Bible stories in order to
launch church-planting movements among those who don’t have access to the Bible in a
way that speaks to their hearts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As an employee of Cru (Cru Intern):
● Exhibit Christian character through attitude and conduct with others in the
workplace and in daily life in the “Standards and Expectations” section of the Cru
employee handbook.
● Express a dependence on the Holy Spirit in the performance of his or her duties.
● Consistently attend, participate and share in team/ministry devotional times and in
other activities specified by his or her leadership.
● Exhibit a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and ability to share how this relationship began.
● Sign the Cru Statement of Faith without reservation.
● Exhibit a history of being connected to a body of believers who encourage his or her
spiritual growth.
● Develop and maintain a personal partner base to provide your full funding as a Cru
staff member.

NOTE: This is a missionary support raising role meaning that Cru pays you from the missionary support you raise. We train and coach you well in this process. The application is open until March 1, 2026 and decisions are made thereafter. We also host a preview weekend for this role in Orlando in early February 2026.


Responsibilities for this Position:
1. Travel internationally three times per year for four weeks at a time to conduct the
School of Storying (SOS) workshop for different languages (training provided).
● Coach and guide SOS participants to produce Bible stories that are biblically
faithful, orally reproducible, naturally told and appropriate to culture
according to the SOS manual, policies and practices.
● Train participants to use the oral Bible stories for evangelism, discipleship
and church planting.
● Write ministry reports, testimonials and take photos on the field during the
SOS project for use in telling ministry partners how God is at work.
● Pursue ongoing development as an SOS trainer.
2. Develop and maintain proficiency in technical skills, such as editing and recording
stories using basic sound recording equipment, editing software and exegetical
tools. No prior experience necessary.
3. Help lead domestic storytelling trainings and summer missions, as assigned.
4. Recruit StoryRunners interns and summer mission participants at Cru conferences
and other events as assigned.
5. Maintain proficiency in storytelling by using oral Bible stories in a variety of
evangelistic and discipleship settings.
6. Attend various conferences, forums, seminars and trainings hosted by other
storytelling ministries for ongoing education in oral Bible story development. Apply
relevant and strategic techniques to the SOS model within the parameters of
StoryRunners’ values and distinctives.

Other Functions: (Not Essential)
● Fulfill Cru Lake Hart Internship Program requirements.
● Personal development: Engage in the Staff Development process including creating
and implementing a Personal Development Plan (PDP) targeting areas of growth.
● Complete Cru CORE training modules as assigned.

● Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
