SUMMARY
Participate in Information Security Infrastructure and Conferencing projects and activities. Help implement various security related project including micro-segmentation, vulnerability management, and Security Incident response. This includes setting up the policies, determining network traffic flows, and implementing appropriate data flow monitoring. Also will help monitor the vulnerabilities found and determine appropriate remediation. Assist the Security team with incident response.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

NOTE: This is a missionary support raising role meaning that Cru pays you from the missionary support you raise. We train and coach you well in this process. The application is open until March 1, 2026 and decisions are made thereafter. We also host a preview weekend for this role in Orlando in early February 2026.
FOR THIS POSITION:
● Help implement various security related project including micro-segmentation.
● Participate in various activities related to the engineering, design and implementation, of Information Security technologies.
● May assist with internal information security activities to the organization addressing Data Security regulations (PCI, State Data Breach Laws, etc).
● Participate in information security risk assessments.
● Participate in investigations of information security incidents pertaining to Cru.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs other work related duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE OF:
● Knowledge in Information/Data Security Laws and regulatory requirements.
● Awareness of networking technology including VoIP, wireless, routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, IPS, and application API’s.
● Network and Applications Architectures with an understanding of OSI Model.
● Knowledge and an understanding of Information security compliance frameworks and requirements (PCI, SOX, etc.) and how they currently relate or could relate to the organization in the future. This includes COBIT framework, ISO 27000 Information Security Standards & Controls or the NIST Cyber Security Framework.
● Information security common practices
● Security methods, procedures, rules, and regulations
● Security Management experience, training, certification or knowledge as it relates to reducing organizational risk, security systems technology and industry common Practices
● Usage of digital forensic tools such as Forensic Tool Kit (FTK®) or EnCase® Forensic Software as well as Open-source Forensics Software.
● Knowledge of Vulnerability Management, Network/Server/Software Penetration testing and common practices that result in a thorough review while maintaining uptime.
● Experience with multiple operating system platforms and security common practices for Win, Mac, Linux.
● Information technology terminology and best practices such ITIL
● Networking TCP/IP protocols, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS)
● Knowledge of Database security common practices to reduce risk exposure.
● Ability to create and read/understand diagrams and blueprints as it relates to security systems or network diagrams
● Knowledge of effective vulnerability identification and appropriate Penetration Testing Practices using both commercial and open-source tools. Understanding of the different kind of Penetration Testing and when it is appropriate to use them.
● Performing Information Security Risk Assessments such as OCTAVE and have an understanding the unique risks, the ministry faces.
● Working in an IT environment which adheres to standard practices such as ITIL
● Correct English usage and grammar
● Establishing and maintaining a cooperative working relationship with others

● Provide information security and information risk management capabilities and recommendations for Cru world headquarters and branch ministries as requested.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Working towards a bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four year college or university, preferably in computer science or Cyber Security. Experience working in an I/T environment.
