Hours: 

Full time, Mon-Thu, 7:30am-4:30pm, Fri, 8:00am-2:00pm.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Trauma Informed Preschool Teacher to join our team and make a lasting impact on children's lives. As a Trauma Informed Preschool Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating an emotionally safe classroom that supports children who have experienced trauma. Your role will involve not only academic instruction but also fostering social-emotional growth and resilience in children and partnering with families.

Responsibilities:

Implement lesson plans and prepare educational materials offering a variety of child-initiated and teacher-directed activities, as well as quiet and active learning activities, to assist each child in developing a positive sense of self.

Adjust classroom curriculum, schedule and activities for a trauma-based approach. 

Work with teaching team to implement Creative Curriculum lesson plans and follow Ohio Learning and Development Standards and Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.

Collaborate with families, Disabilities Manager, and School Districts to support referrals and implement individual goals for each child. 

Conduct home visits and conferences with families, and complete child assessments/screenings throughout the year, to determine strengths and areas for growth. 

Use Conscious Discipline to support social-emotional development, problem-solving, and empathy skills.

Maintain a safe learning environment and actively supervise children following state licensing regulations and Head Start Performance Standards.

Attend professional development trainings, staff meetings, and other relevant workshops. 

Obtain First Aid, CPR, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Certifications as required.

Complete pre-employment screenings (which include background checks, drug screening, and medical statement). WCCS is a tobacco-free (including e-cigarettes) campus and maintains a drug-free workplace.

Our Ideal Candidate (Trauma Informed Preschool Teacher):

Hold Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with evidence of college level coursework in either Child Development or Early Childhood Education. Will also consider candidate with high school degree and experience or CDA and experience.

Possess training in trauma-informed care.

Experience working with pre-school children. 

Self-motivated and ability to work with little supervision.

Relate with warmth, understanding, and patience to children and their families, including those with diverse abilities and backgrounds.

Exhibit strong communication and collaboration skills with children, staff, and families.

Utilize strategies to remain calm and positive during stressful situations.

Maintain confidentiality and work in a professional manner.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Has reliable transportation and a valid OH Driver's License.
