Songwriter – Beatmakers & Topliners (Music Publishing)
Milwaukee's first professional songwriter collective is forming.
We're building what Nashville, LA, and Atlanta have had for decades - a real publishing house where songwriters earn from their craft without being the artist. We are looking for writers and beatmakers who can deliver three commercial songs/beats per week. Writers who understand that great songs are both art and business.
This is how professional songwriting works in the major markets. Now we're building it in Milwaukee.
The Reality
You'll write 3+ songs per week based on our briefs. Pop, R&B, hip-hop, country, rock - whatever the project demands. We handle production, mixing, and pitching.
This isn't for artists who want to perform their own work. This is for pure songwriters and beatmakers who want to build catalogs that generate income while they sleep.
What You Keep
Your writer's share of everything you create. We handle all the business - publishing admin, royalty collection, pitch meetings, sync opportunities. You just write.
Every song you finish becomes part of your catalog. Successful songwriter catalogs sell for millions. You're not just writing songs - you're building long-term wealth.
What We Need
- Submission of 3 original songs or beats (demos are fine)
- Basic home recording setup and basic DAW skills
- Ability to write across genres based on briefs
- Professional attitude toward deadlines and feedback
Most importantly:
You need to be someone who writes and create constantly anyway. If 3 songs per week sounds impossible, this isn't for you. If it sounds like what you're already doing but without direction, we should talk.
The Process
- Email 3 songs to aguidry@sigmarecords.org with subject line "Songwriter - [Your Name]" or “Beatmaker - [Your Name]”
- A few sentences about why you see yourself thriving in a professional songwriting environment, and why you can consistently deliver 3 songs/beats weekly.
Why This Matters
Milwaukee has producers and artists, but no real songwriter collective. We're building the infrastructure that turns musical ideas into publishing income.
You'll graduate with professional songs generating royalties instead of just a degree and student debt.
If you want to be part of building something that doesn't exist yet in Milwaukee, apply.
