About the Position:

Under the general direction of the Office Chief of Commercial Vehicle Operations, a Supervising Transportation Engineer (Manager), the incumbent, a Senior Transportation Engineer, serves as a functional manager of the Single Trip Transportation Permit Issuance Branch. The Office of Commercial Vehicle Operations issues special transportation permits to operate or move vehicles exceeding the maximum limitations specified in the California Vehicle Code (oversize/overweight vehicles) on the State Highway System. The Chief of the Single Trip Transportation Permits Issuance Branch oversees staff responsible for issuing single trip transportation permits for the movement of extralegal vehicles and/or loads on California state highways in support of ensuring the safety of the traveling public and protecting the public’s investment in the transportation infrastructure.
