Program Description

Longroad Energy’s internship program provides opportunities for undergraduate students from underrepresented communities to explore careers in renewable energy. In 2026, Longroad is offering paid internship positions that create challenging hands-on learning experiences for college juniors, entering their senior year in the Fall. Selected interns will participate in a 10–12-week summer program that includes onboarding, structured work experience, mentoring, and exposure both to department-specific and company-wide personnel and activities.

 

Job Purpose 

The Asset Management intern will work with Longroad’s asset management team to support them in day-to-day tasks related to accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, compliance, and operations of wind and solar projects. The intern will also have the opportunity to work with intern(s) on other teams, meet with other departments within Longroad to discuss their roles, present to the Longroad founders, and, schedule permitting, visit a wind or solar project. Longroad currently cannot extend return offers to graduating interns, but in future years may create more entry-level positions

 

Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Daily, weekly, and monthly review of asset performance
  • Perform daily and weekly tasks in support of the asset management team
  • Conduct larger, independent projects that involve quantitative and qualitative analysis, such as creating and improving report templates, supporting DC expansion research, or reviewing and summarizing contracts and compliance requirements
  • Learn about solar and wind legal compliance requirements and support asset managers on related tasks, such as PUC registrations and EIA filing
  • Learn about Renewable Energy Credit (REC) registrations and transactions and support asset managers on related tasks
  • Organize files and data used for budgeting
  • Help maintain, update, and organize operational and financial records
  • Help prepare financial data for monthly operating reports and support engineering team on compiling monthly reports in Excel
  • Support asset managers and engineers on data requests and calculations using Excel
  • Potentially visit operating wind and solar projects (funding will be provided for travel)

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student at a 4-year college
  • Preferred major of Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, or other related STEM majors
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Interest in Renewable Energy Industry
  • Curiosity
  • Self-starter
  • Strong written and organizational skills
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency
  • Cover letter highly preferred
  • Interest in renewable energy industry
  • This position has been established to provide opportunities for students from underrepresented demographics in the fields of finance and renewable energy, including first-generation college students
