Evans Law is a boutique real property firm in Annapolis serving developers, small businesses, community associations, and individuals in matters involving real estate, construction, and land use. Our attorneys provide transactional and litigation services to clients throughout Maryland. Our team focuses on practical solutions and high-quality advocacy while navigating a variety of matters including sales, acquisitions, leasing, construction, HOA and condominium governance, landlord-tenant relations, zoning, land use, and other real property related issues. 

Position Overview

Evans Law seeks a motivated Legal Intern to support active matters and develop practical legal skills. The intern will work directly with attorneys on research, drafting, client interaction, court observation, and day-to-day case support. Compensation and/or academic credit will be determined based on the selected candidate’s preferences and school requirements. The position is hybrid with flexibility, especially for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research on real estate, land use, construction, and related topics
  • Draft documents and correspondence under attorney supervision, including memos, pleadings, motions, and client communications
  • Assist with case file management, document organization, deadline tracking, and exhibit preparation
  • Participate in client interviews and meetings, take notes, and help prepare materials
  • Attend and observe court proceedings, hearings, mediations, and administrative matters, as available
  • Perform administrative support such as filing, copying, answering phones, scheduling, and mail management

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a legal studies, pre-law, paralegal, or related undergraduate or graduate program
  • Strong interest in real estate, construction, and land use law
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Professional communication skills and client-service mindset
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and willingness to learn firm software
  • Ability to appear in person at the Annapolis office as needed 

Schedule and Work Arrangement

  • Term: Flexible start and end dates
  • Commitment: At least 8 hours per week, with the option to take on more hours if desired
  • Scheduling: Flexible around academic schedule and other commitments
  • Work Mode: Hybrid in-person/remote
