Student Academic Adviser Position

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current student in Oakland University Master of Counseling program, Master of Education in Higher Education Leadership program or related field/program.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications

• One year of experience in academic counseling or advising.
• Knowledge of admission and registration practices.

Position Purpose

• Provide proactive, student-centered academic advising to pre-nursing students supporting their academic, personal, and professional development.

Job Duties

• Develop academic plans and course selection with pre-nursing students and provide guidance on nursing admission requirements, degree requirements and academic policies.
• Maintain and update student records in DegreeWorks, Argos, BANNER and BDM.
• Participate in undergraduate recruitment events to promote the nursing program to prospective students.
• Assist with first year, transfer and nursing specific orientations.
