Theatre Costume & Wardrobe Intern
THEATRE COSTUME & WARDROBE INTERN- Spring 2026
I. POSITION OBJECTIVES: To provide excellent technical expertise in the areas of Costume Construction and Wardrobe management for ECCT productions, rentals and special events. To help oversee day to day costume shop operations. To be an active member of the Production Staff, assisting in the areas of hair and makeup and properties as capable.
II. POSITION CHARACTERISTICS:
Recruited by: Executive Director
Salary/Benefits: $9600 for 20 weeks plus free housing
Schedule: January 5, 2026- May 22, 2026 (Start and end dates may have some flexibility depending on semester schedules)
Full time salaried position; schedule will flex between daytime, evening and weekend hours depending on ECCT production schedule
III. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Costumer
Head costumer provides day to day supervision and task assignments. Intern is part of the production team attending weekly staff meetings and monthly production meetings. Interns are given design and leadership opportunities based on their skill levels, interests and comfort level.
Supervises: Community volunteers
Coordinates with: Costume Shop Manager, Crew Heads
IV. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
· Working toward or holding BA/BS in Costume Design, Theatre, Fashion Merchandising or related field desired or comparable experience in the field
· Demonstrated costume design ability
· Advanced sewing skills appreciated; intermediate accepted
· Knowledge of theatrical style, conventions and terminology
· Strong oral communication skills
· Background in or appreciation of theatre
· Demonstrated ability to recruit and work with volunteers
· Ability to manage several projects simultaneously
· Strong organizational skills and highly motivated with strong work ethic
· Ability to work with minimal supervision
V. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND SAMPLE TASKS:
· Provide costume construction and wardrobe management assistance for 8 ECCT spring shows- ANNIE, THE CAT IN THE HAT, CURIOUS GEORGE, FROZEN, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, LEGALLY BLONDE, SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE, TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.
· Assist with outside rentals and special events like Cinderella's Birthday Party and Purses with Purpose.
· Supervise volunteers on work nights
· Work with properties coordinator on fabric projects
· Assist with hair and makeup design as able
· Serve on the running crew for shows
