Legal and Compliance Intern
HAI Group®[1], the nation’s leading property-casualty insurance carrier exclusively serving the public and affordable housing industry, is seeking a Legal and Compliance Intern. As an intern at HAI Group, you’ll gain hands-on experience while contributing to the Legal and Compliance team and supporting its impact across the enterprise.
Internship Program Mission:
To engage in the selection of undergraduate and graduate talent (in specific roles, advanced degrees) for an internship with HAI Group designed to support each student’s focus of study by evoking the utilization of acquired knowledge, theory, and skills for practical application at work.
Internship Overview:
HAI Group is seeking a motivated and organized undergraduate or graduate student in law, legal studies, or other relevant degrees. As the Legal and Compliance Intern, you will work closely with the Assistant Direct of Legal and Compliance to assist with projects and provide support on both an enterprise-wide level and directly to the Legal and Compliance team. You will have the opportunity to support contract and internal policy review, identify and document standard operating procedures, and assess both third-party and cybersecurity-related risks. The Legal and Compliance Intern will provide assistance with the organization and utilization of contractual data within the company’s repository.
This is a full-time, paid internship that is required to be on-site in the HAI Group office, located in Cheshire, CT, Monday–Friday. The internship program will run from June–August.
Major Responsibilities:
- Review and update of internal policy and procedure documents
- Research legal and regulatory issues
- Support contract review
- Analyze and organize company’s contractual data within the lifecycle management system
- Legislative tracking
- Support cybersecurity efforts
Academic Background:
Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in law, legal studies, or other related degrees.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Detail-oriented and highly motivated to learn new skills
- Ability to research and report on legal and compliance regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Able to review, assess and organize contractual and regulatory information
- Ability to work in a professional environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of contract law or insurance, preferred
Experience:
- Prior work experience preferred but not required
