Full Job Description: Cybersecurity Engineer

Grade: Business Grade 09 | BG-09

Position Summary: Design, implement, and maintain security measures to protect our organization’s IT infrastructure, data, and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in network security, threat analysis, and risk management, with a focus on preventing cyber threats and ensuring compliance with security standards that support
district goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
● Associate’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience, Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:
● Three (3) years’ experience with cybersecurity, network systems, or related IT roles

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, Etc.:
● Requires entry level cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, CEH, or Microsoft 365 Certified Associate, Advanced level certifications such as GIAC, CISM, CISSP (preferred) or equivalent work experience
● Requires strong knowledge of firewalls, Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, IDS/IPS, centralized endpoint protection, and encryption technologies.
● Strong knowledge of disaster recovery planning
● Requires working knowledge of routing, Internet monitoring, endpoint management, TCP/IP networking and services (VPN), and Ethernet network technologies
● Understanding of Microsoft 365 security policies and DLP solutions
● Experience with SIEM tools, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Metasploit, Qualys).
● Familiarity with cloud security best practices (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
● Experience in K-12 (preferred) or higher education security frameworks
● Prefer knowledge of Microsoft 365, PowerSchool, and Tyler Munis
