Digital Media and Communications Intern

The Department of Communication Studies (CMST) at Colorado State University is seeking a dynamic and creative student hourly employee to support our communications and recruitment efforts. This role is primarily focused on social media and video content creation – from planning and producing reels to posting stories and capturing event footage. The student will work closely with the CMST Communications Coordinator to capture and share compelling stories about our students, faculty, alumni, and events across our channels. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Create, schedule, and post engaging content for CMST social media platforms (Instagram and Facebook), including graphics, photos, reels, and stories.
• Plan, film, and edit video content (short and long forms) to support campaigns, events, and recruitment.
• Brainstorm and implement creative ideas to boost social media engagement and reach.
• Capture photos and video at department events for promotional use.
• Assist in the production of recruitment materials, including videos and other digital assets.
• Write and edit content for the department website, social media, and other communications.
• Track and analyze social media performance and report key takeaways.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:

• Current undergraduate or graduate student in the College of Liberal Arts
• Demonstrated experience in content creation, including video production, photography, and basic graphic design
• Proficiency in social media management and content creation tools
• Strong writing and communication skills
• Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, etc.)
• Familiarity with digital design platforms (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
• Knowledge of current social media trends and best practices
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Enthusiasm for storytelling and promoting academic programs
• 3.0 minimum GPA
