Elementary Education Faculty

BridgeValley Community and Technical College invites applications for a full-time, on-campus faculty position in Elementary Education, beginning in August 2025.  The position is primarily located at our South Charleston, WV campus and may include some teaching at our Montgomery location or at off-campus locations. Teaching load will include Elementary Education specific courses and field experience coordination and oversite. Classes meet at various times during the day and evening throughout the week.  The teaching load is 12 contact hours per term, including a 20% load reduction for program coordination. The instructor will be required to hold office hours, student hours, keep student records, participate in department and division meetings and maintain appropriate assessments, and maintain a minimum of 25 hours on campus.  This is a full-time, grant-funded position.  Actual salary offer will be commensurate with education and experience.
 

Examples of Duties:

 

  • Curriculum development, implementation, and assessment in classroom field experience-based settings
  • Teaching, service to students, professional development and service to the institution and community
  • Remain current in the field of elementary education teaching and techniques
  • Advise all program students
  • Work with transfer institutions to ensure curriculum alignment and appropriate academic rigor
  • Ensure program level compliance with all internal academic policies and procedures, and all accrediting standards and other applicable external rules and regulations.
  • Participate in division, department, and general faculty meetings, in-service training, workshops and/or seminars; serve on college committees, and/or other activities within the scope of the position to improve program enrollment, retention, completion, and fundraising.
  • Assignment may involve teaching evenings, weekends, or at off-campus locations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

 

 

Minimum

  • Master's degree in Education or related field with 18 graduate semester hours in, or applicable to, qualification for teaching, Elementary Education courses, or a master’s degree plus at least 3 years of in-field experience. 
  • Post-secondary teaching experience of 1 year, in any field of study, adjunct and teaching assistantships may be considered in total years of experience. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated skill in curriculum design

Preferred

  • Elementary Education teaching experience at the post-secondary level
  • Full time teaching experience in any discipline in post-secondary education
  • Demonstrated aptitude for using technology for instructional delivery
