Field Engineer

Job Description: Field Engineer

 

We're seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Field Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll be the backbone of our on-site operations, responsible for ensuring all projects are laid out with absolute precision, managing material quantities, and coordinating concrete deliveries. This is a critical position that requires a strong understanding of construction processes, excellent technical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Survey and Layout: Perform all on-site survey and layout tasks for concrete foundations, slabs, walls, and other structural elements. Use total stations, GPS, and other surveying equipment to establish and verify project control points, elevations, and dimensions.

Quantity Management: Accurately calculate and verify concrete quantities from project drawings and specifications. Monitor and track concrete usage on-site to minimize waste and ensure cost-effective material management.

Concrete Orders & Coordination: Prepare and place concrete orders with suppliers, specifying mix designs, quantities, and delivery schedules. Coordinate with project superintendents and dispatchers to ensure timely and efficient concrete pours.

Quality Control: Assist in performing quality control checks.

Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all layout activities, quantity calculations, and concrete delivery tickets.

Safety: Adhere to all company and project safety protocols and regulations.

 

Qualifications

 

Experience: Previous experience in a field engineering, survey, or a similar role, preferably in the concrete or civil construction industry.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with surveying equipment (total stations, GPS) and construction software (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam). Strong math and analytical skills are essential for quantity takeoffs.

Education: A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred, but relevant experience will also be considered.

Certifications: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.

Personal Attributes: Must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently. Excellent communication skills are required to coordinate with superintendents, suppliers, and other team members.

 

Working Conditions

 

This is a field-based role that requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

The role may require travel to various job sites.
