Group Exercise Instructor - Parkinson's

We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled and inspiring Exercise Class instructor passionate about helping people to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing exercise and fitness plans for a wide range of clients living with Parkinson's. You must have a positive attitude, highly motivated personality and the ability to encourage clients. Previous experiences working with people affected by Parkinson's is especially welcomed. Full Training on leading Parkinson's Exercise Classes will be provided to all successful candidates

 

Starting rate:

$11.00 - $16.00

 

Qualifications:

  • You must have or be willing to obtain: A group ex certification or silver sneakers certification
  • Parkinson's online course training
  • Shadowing current Parkinson's instructors
  • CPR/First aid.

Desirable:

  • Background in Exercise Science and/or Physical Therapy preferred (current student is ok)
  • Knowledge or experience of working with people who have Parkinson's Disease
  • Ability to work with participants to address the whole person, including spirit, mind and body

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, setup and conduct group exercise classes for participants including light equipment setup, music
  • Communicate with participants and supervisor regarding safety concerns
  • Create an environment that promotes support and provides tools and knowledge for participants to help them develop a plan and uphold their goals.
  • Adhere to provided curriculum by Incorporating the Parkinson's programming and guidelines into your exercise classes
  • Create varied exercise routines for your classes based on our provided curriculum
  • Demonstrate and encourage correct warm-up and stretching techniques to avoid injury
  • Educate a wide range of clients of all ages based on their fitness capabilities
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when working with members
  • Able to work with clients who need special attention due to their health problems
  • Perform CPR, first aid or other emergency procedures if needed
  • Hours – Vary: 2-4 Hours/ week.
