Our Environmental Sciences team is seeking new team members for the Environmental Scientist I position to support projects across Florida from our Middleton, Ocala, and Clearwater offices. This role offers the opportunity to work on ecological assessments, wildlife surveys, permitting, and restoration efforts alongside experienced scientists, ecologists, and engineers. You will gain hands-on experience in the field while contributing to meaningful environmental solutions.
About Us
CFB’s Environmental Sciences team has 20+ years of experience leading large-scale restoration projects, water quality initiatives, and environmental assessments. We work with private and public sector clients to integrate science-based solutions into infrastructure planning, development, and ecological restoration. Our team specializes in wetland restoration, seagrass recovery, permitting, and regulatory compliance to support resilient and sustainable projects.
Your Role
As an Environmental Scientist I, you will:
● Conduct ecological studies, wetland delineations, and habitat assessments
● Perform species surveys for gopher tortoises, Florida burrowing owls, crested caracara, , Eastern indigo snakes, Florida scrub jay, and other listed species
● Assist with gopher tortoise relocation, essential fish habitat assessments, and benthic habitat surveys
● Support water quality management plans and stream condition index assessments
● Contribute to nature-based solutions, including coastal resiliency, wetland restoration, and seagrass recovery projects
● Assist with environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and natural resource mapping
What You Bring
● Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, or related field
● 2-3 years of experience preferred (entry-level candidates with a strong willingness to learn will be considered)
● Familiarity with Florida environmental regulations and permitting processes
● Strong technical writing, data collection, and analysis skills
● Ability to work outdoors in various field conditions
● Valid driver’s license (company vehicle provided for fieldwork)
