Student Health Center Outreach Assistant

The Office of Health Education (OHE) conducts a myriad of outreach activities over the course of the year and oversees an outreach program called HU peers.  Outreach activities include new student orientation, bison fitness, theme-based outreach provided in dorms, virtual and through SHC sponsored events such as Wellness Wednesday, Sexpectations week.  The OHE also participates in local high school health & wellness events.  Some of the topics covered include health living, heart health, sexual and reproductive health and nutrition, intimate partner violence and LGBTQI health.  This position requires participation in outreach efforts and assistance with coordination and oversight of the HU peers’ program and the student will work directly with the design staff to ensure successful promotion of OHE programming.   The ideal applicant is able to work well with others, has an outgoing and engaging personality, leadership skills, a high level of organizational skills, and schedule flexibility. 

Major Activities, Key Results, and Deliverables 

• Participate in the various outreach activities conducted by the OHE
• Assist with managing the schedule and outreach activities for HU peers
• Monitor and manage participation at designated events
• Maintain participation data and metrics for outreach activities
• Collaborate with the outreach and graphic design staff to create outreach materials

Knowledge & Skills 

• Prior management experience.
• Highly organized, creative, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• The ability to deliver quick turnarounds if necessary, and follow deadlines
• Strong planning and project management competencies.
• The ability to work collaboratively with others.
• Public speaking to large or small groups
