
Volunteer Police Reserve
Primary Objective of Position
To ensure a secure, aware and involved community by uniting law enforcement and residents. To provide a variety of support services to the community and the Police Department in a non-sworn, volunteer capacity.
- Volunteer a minimum of eight (8) hours a month, attend meetings and training as requested by the Reserve Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications
- Be at least 18 years of age and a US citizen
- Must have a strong desire to serve the City of Mounds View
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Possess a valid class D state driver’s license and have a good driving record
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Pass a thorough background check, including a criminal history check
Note: Felony and gross misdemeanor convictions will render applicant’s ineligible. Certain petty misdemeanor and misdemeanor convictions may render applicant’s ineligible.
Reserve Officers will be trained to perform patrol duties through a combination of classroom and on-the-job field training. Field Training is a formalized on-the-job training experience for recruit reserve officers under the guidance of experienced police officers. The pace of field training will be determined by their ability to comprehend and demonstrate knowledge as well as availability to complete ride-alongs.
