Recreation Staff
Recreation Staff tasks include:
- facilitating high ropes activities such as the rockwall and giant swing
- lifeguarding water activities including the pool and water slides
- participate in paid on-site training to receive a ropes certification (specific to Asbury Hills) and a Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification (nationally recognized certification)
- assist with other areas of camp including set-up for activities and worship, and dishwashing after meals
- incorporating Jesus into debrief conversations with campers (we are a Christian summer camp)
Qualifications:
- no high ropes or lifeguard experience is required
- must be able to swim if you want to be a lifeguard (it is possible to be a ropes-only or a lifeguard-only recreation staff member)
- attention to detail
- critical thinking and problem solving skills
- ability to communicate and work well with others
- ability to learn new skills quickly
- comfort in an outdoor environment (including hot and rainy weather) for the majority of the day
