Description

OakBrook CA is a Bay Area affordable real estate housing firm with a focus on positive change for our communities. We seek to add an Accounting Associate to our team with strong quantitative and analytical skills, financial rigor, and commitment to accuracy and compliance. Our work covers community outreach, rental assistance accounting, design and engineering, project accounting and development finance, anti-displacement research, construction management, and temporary resident relocation during occupied rehabilitation of affordable properties. The Accounting Associate will manage and assist both OakBrook’s internal accounting operations and the financial management of our affordable housing clients. This role will be responsible for managing core accounting functions, including AP/AR, financial reporting, draw requests, and compliance, ensuring accuracy and transparency across OakBrook’s own finances as well as the financials of the affordable housing clients we manage. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong quantitative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and apply accounting principles within a real estate development and property management context.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable processing
  • Coordinate third party vendors for projects as needed
  • Bank and trust account reconciliation
  • Process and track company expenses, vendor payments, and employee reimbursements
  • Preparation and submission of draw requests to funders and lenders
  • Response to funder and lender inquiries
  • Assistance with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Assistance with tax preparation, audits, and compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Data entry and management in Yardi and QuickBooks accounting systems
  • Collaboration with project managers and operations staff to allocate costs and track project expenses
  • Work closely with finance associate, principal and other departments to ensure smooth financial operations

 

Desirable Candidate Characteristics: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting finance or business 
  • Excel proficiency and numeric accuracy
  • Experience using Yardi and QuickBooks for accounting and financial management
  • Curiosity; critical questioning and thinking skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
