Specialty Tax Intern - 2026

Moss Adams (now Baker Tilly) is currently seeking Specialty Tax Interns for 2026. 

Our interns gain knowledge of the firm's Tax and Consulting practices through working with multiple clients across a variety of industries.

As a Specialty Tax intern, you can choose to work in one of the following practice areas:

  • Cost Segregation Interns participate in project planning, assist in completing estimates of real and personal property, attend site visits, identify, and quantify qualifying assets utilizing construction cost estimation tools, conduct technical research, and prepare supporting work paper documentation.
  • International Tax Interns assist multinational clients and high net worth individuals by performing transactional and functional analysis, transfer pricing analysis, US domestic and foreign tax planning, sourcing of income and foreign credit planning, research on international tax consulting and compliance issues, and other projects as assigned.
  • Research & Development Tax Interns participate in project planning, conduct interviews, and analyze information to identify eligible tax credits, and prepare supporting work paper documentation.
  • State & Local Tax Interns assist clients by performing state and local tax compliance reviews, analyze tax controversies, research and draft technical memoranda regarding income and franchise tax issues and much more.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire. Moss Adams (now Baker Tilly) will not consider candidates for this position who require sponsorship for employment visa status now or in the future (e.g., H-1B, STEM OPT)
  • Must have completed or be enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program, with a preference for accounting majors
  • If an accounting major, must meet educational requirements to obtain CPA license upon full-time Staff hire
  • Must reside within a commutable distance to a Moss Adams (now Baker Tilly) office and be willing to work on-site
  • Eligible candidates must have academic courses remaining at the end of the internship. Candidates in year three of a 4-year degree program, or in year four of a 5-year program, preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Major in Accounting or coursework in technology-related fields highly desirable
  • For International Tax, Research & Development Tax and State & Local Tax: Master of Tax or JD/LLM preferred
  • For Cost Segregation: Industrial Engineering, Engineering or Construction Management may also be considered
  • Willingness to travel to client locations, including overnight stays, with travel expectations varying by department and office location
  • Flexibility to work overtime or additional hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
  • Excellent customer service skills; Ability to understand own and others' emotions in order to achieve desired goals
  • Creative problem solving, critical thinking and research skills; Organize information and exercise well-reasoned judgment
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; Demonstrate confidence in decision making and poise in professional setting
  • Work effectively both as part of a team and independently
  • Highly motivated and embrace challenges as opportunities to grow
  • Outstanding organization and project management skills; Take responsibility for quality and timeliness of projects
  • Quickly adapt to a changing work environment, including the use of software, systems and technology
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

This is the typical range of pay for the position.  Actual compensation may depend on factors such as qualifications, work experience, skills, and geographic location.  Compensation Range: Washington State: $33.50/hr - $35.50/hr California: $36/hr - $46/hr Colorado: $33/hr - $34/hr
