GLOBAL NON-PROFIT FEDERAL ADVOCACY INTERNSHIP

Potomac Strategic Development Company, LLC, offers an unpaid, three to six-month global non-profit advocacy/government affairs internship project. The work schedule is part-time (3-5 hours per week) and will not interfere with classroom attendance.

The internship will focus on congressional outreach for leading non-profit organizations, including prominent service/health/educational organizations. Preference will be given to undergraduate candidates with experience in writing or political science, particularly those interested in an advocacy career. Candidates must demonstrate excellent writing skills, effective time management abilities, promptness, and a strong desire to pursue winning strategies for causes that promote inclusion and improve the quality of life for people globally.

 --The world’s most prominent organization dedicated to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (founded 1968).

--One of the world's oldest organizations dedicated to early development and nutrition programs for children (founded 1911).

 --2nd largest US nonprofit/organization creating equitable environments for under-resourced communities.

 The internship is designed to supplement a student’s ongoing educational development; PSD staff will guide interns in researching advocacy opportunities for an organization based on specific areas of need and potential for effective public/private and charitable partnerships. 

Interns will be mentored and supervised to become effective and knowledgeable federal advocates. Communications will be conducted in person and through e-mail, telephone, fax, and overnight mail. Resource tools will help interns become familiar with the federal advocacy/communications process.
