Community Outreach & Engagement (AmeriCorps Member)

October 2025 – July 2026

Goal of the Project: Increase awareness of the organization and participation.
Although our organization has been serving the community for nearly a decade, there many residents and stakeholders still to connect with and educate on who we are and the full scope of what we do. To address this, the service member will aim to increase awareness of our nonprofit’s mission and participation in our farmers’ market through intentional community outreach and engagement. Through various methods and partnerships, they will learn to build more powerful, more meaningful connections by helping us reintroduce ourselves to the neighborhoods we serve, reaffirming our dedication to not only the community but to our goals.

The AmeriCorps member will also help us seek to forge more powerful and meaningful connections with community members, reaffirming our unwavering dedication to the community and our overarching goals. Strong relationships are the foundation of community engagement, and we are committed to strengthening those bonds.

To achieve this, we aim to establish clear, accessible, and welcoming lines of communication. Our intention is to humanize our organization, allowing community members to recognize our team and empathize with our mission and goals.

Ultimately, fortifying our visibility and connection within the community is essential. Through this enhanced engagement, we can cultivate deeper community buy-in and foster program participation. By making our presence felt and our purpose understood, we aim to inspire community members to join us in our endeavors, creating a collective effort toward a healthier, more vibrant community for everyone. We envision a future where every resident feels a genuine connection to our work, resulting in enhanced collaboration and shared successes in the years to come.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Strong Communication Skills – Exceptional written and oral communication abilities; comfortable with public speaking and leading presentations or group discussions.
     
  2. Organized and Detail-Oriented – Able to manage multiple tasks, keep accurate records, and stay on top of communications and responsibilities.
     
  3. Tech-savvy and Collaborative—Proficient in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and communication tools like Slack, Airtable, or Coda; familiarity with design platforms such as Canva or Prezi is a plus.
     
  4. Creative and Mission-Aligned – Brings an innovative outlook and can identify individuals or organizations aligned with our mission and values.
     
  5. Passionate and Welcoming – Demonstrates enthusiasm for sustainability and community work; bilingual abilities are welcomed but not required.
