The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is seeking a Claims Manager. GCRTA provides transportation services for 150,000-200,000 customers on a typical weekday, or about 45 million rides annually, through a variety of services, including HealthLine, bus, Paratransit, light rail, heavy rail, and vanpools. GCRTA is the 2019 recipient of the prestigious American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Gold Award for Bus Safety & Security Excellence. We are looking for an eager intern who will be committed to assisting our Legal Department.
Duties:
- Under the supervision of the GCRTA attorneys, the Legal Intern will assist in legal research, the preparation of pleadings, motions, briefs, court filings, and other matters that may be required.
- Areas of concentration include labor and administrative law, contracts, real estate, litigation and public sector legal issues.
- Additional duties include assembling responses to public record requests, as well as office tasks.
- This position will promote a safe and secure atmosphere, follow all safety and security rules and perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Applicants must have a Bachelors’ Degree and have completed at least one (1) year of law school
- Applicant must be skilled in software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, GroupWise/Outlook, or similar email communication, and Internet.
- Applicants are required to be skilled in Westlaw, Westlaw Next, Lexis, Lexis Advance and/or Bloomberg BNA.

Environmental Conditions: This person will work primarily in an office type of environment, but will be subject to exposure outside, when going to complete filing and delivery duties.
Physical Demands: Lifting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. frequently, kneeling, standing for periods greater than 30 minutes, stooping, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, fingering, hearing, walking and navigating.
Mental Demands: Interpersonal skills/behaviors, synthesizing, math, communicating, copying, compiling, negotiating, and reading.
