Office Assistant - Federal Work Study - COAS - Department of Biology

Summary

The Department of Biology is currently seeking to hire a motivated and detail-oriented Office Assistant  through the Federal Work-Study Program. This position offers a valuable opportunity for a student to gain hands-on administrative experience while supporting the day-to-day operations of the office.

This position is only available to eligible Federal Work-Study Students.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist visitors in the office.
  • Answer telephones, route calls to appropriate individual or take messages.
  • Copy, print, scan and email documents.
  • Organize the supply closet and track the inventory of office supplies needed.
  • Update faculty and staff roster, brochures, and other documents when required.
  • Perform data entry.
  • Post flyers and job announcements for research opportunities on bulletin boards and throughout the building.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Basic office skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and customer service skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and other office software.
