The Art and Art History Department is seeking three enthusiastic and experienced Visual Art Programs Assistants to support exhibitions and public programming across our main exhibition spaces. This is an ideal opportunity for undergraduate students who are passionate about arts and culture, public art, and museum and gallery operations, and are looking to gain hands-on experience in these areas. Successful candidate must be a self starter with strong communications and time management skills. A major in Studio Art or Art History, or demonstrated experience and knowledge in the field, is required. The Visual Art Programs Assistants will work closely with the Director of Exhibitions and Community Engagement, as well as with artists and curators, on all aspects of exhibition setup, promotion, audience management, and engagement. Continuing employment and leadership opportunities may be available for those who demonstrate aptitude and initiative.

This is a work-study position; applicant must be eligible for work-study to apply.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Assist the Director of Exhibitions in preparing for major exhibitions, open call competitions, and public programs. 

2. Independently conduct research on assigned art historical topics and develop original exhibition materials and didactics. 

3. Manage the audience database and support community outreach using the assigned CRM system. 

4. Produce professional-quality communications and promotional materials, including photography, video, and writing. 

5. Attend public programs—including exhibition openings and artist talks—which may take place outside of regular business hours.

Qualifications/Education:

Art and Art History major or demonstrated experience in the visual arts, including new media art.

Preferred Skills:

Research, writing, editing, CRM management, customer service, videography and editing, exhibition design, communications.
