Research Intern - Technology in Classrooms

Job Summary

The Lehigh Valley Justice Institute (LVJI) at United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) is looking for Research Interns to study the effect of technology in K-12 classrooms. This hands-on project includes an intense literature review, synthesizing research and best practices, and writing a final research report. Interns will review published and unpublished academic literature on the impact of technology on child learning and produce a set of best practices. At the end, there may be internal presentations or presentations to local committees or organizations. We are hiring 1-2 interns for this role. 

We hope to answer the following research questions.

  • What effects does integrating cell phone, tablet, laptop, etc., technology have on student learning in K-12 classrooms?
  • Is there a “sweet spot” of technology integration that best facilitates learning? 
  • What are the best practices of integrating technology into K-12 classrooms?

Job Duties

  • Attend meetings with supervisors and team members
  • Conduct literature searches to answer the research questions
  • Execute basic data analysis as needed
  • Add/modify research questions as needed
  • Write a report describing research procedures, results, and interpretation
  • Communicate and collaborate with other interns or team members
