Maintenance & Ammonia Technician - St. Charles, MO
Job description
As a Maintenance Technician at the General Mills St. Charles, MO Plant, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing processing and packaging equipment, with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and ammonia refrigeration systems. This role involves both preventative and reactive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Working 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, you'll collaborate with experienced teams to improve manufacturing operations, uphold food safety and quality, and contribute to a safe and efficient work environment. The position requires a high school diploma (technical certification preferred), 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience (ammonia refrigeration experience strongly preferred), and the ability to perform physical tasks in various working conditions, with opportunities for growth and development within General Mills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
- Proficient in English
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues
- Skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, ammonia troubleshooting and repair of production equipment
- Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of PLC operation, electrical components and systems troubleshooting, including use of a multimeter
- Must obtain CARO (Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator) certification within 18 months as a condition of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical certification
- Ammonia refrigeration experience
- Knowledge of PSM/RMP, OSHA, and EPA regulations related to ammonia systems
- Basic shop equipment (mill, lathe, grinder, presses, etc)
- Experience in a manufacturing/production environment
