Position Overview
At GCS-SIGAL, the role of an Estimating Intern is to support the preconstruction and estimating teams in the successful preparation and bidding of construction projects.
Position Functions
- Creatively solve challenging issues that arise in the estimating processÂ
- Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Assist in preparing time, cost, and labor estimates by analyzing project drawings, specifications, and RFPs
- Support the preparation of conceptual estimates and budgets for multiple upcoming projects
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and assist in developing scope sheets for purchasing
- Review project documents to identify scope gaps, design omissions, and develop well-written RFIs
- Research and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships to support competitive bidding
- Assist in evaluating bid specifications, drawings, and proposal requirements
- Attend pre-bid meetings and/or site visits as needed
- Collaborate with the marketing team on proposal preparation and RFP responses
- Assist with organizing and maintaining estimating documentation and project records
Experience/Education
- Pursuing a BS or MS Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
