Reports To: Farm Manager
Compensation: $15-17/hour, depending on experience. Benefits include discount at the Everyday Cafe and mileage reimbursement for work use of vehicle.
Location: Oasis Farm, 7238 Fleury Way, Homewood, 15208
Schedule: 10-12 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Period: September - November 2025

Oasis Farm is a demonstrative and educational microfarm in Homewood. We engage children, adults, and the community through food, nutrition, and farming. We grow quality, hyper-local, affordable, nutritious, and culturally important fresh produce for our programs, events and community. More than just an urban farm - Oasis Farm is a vibrant hub dedicated to fostering food access, sustainable agriculture, and deep connections.
Overview
Oasis Farm is seeking a Farm Crew Member for the remainder of the 2025 growing season. Working closely with the Farm Manager and Farm Assistant, this role supports farm production tasks and maintenance while contributing to our community-centered mission. Additional opportunities for community engagement, education, and team leadership are available based on interest and skills.
Key Responsibilities
Harvest and Production
- Harvest, wash, and pack produce for the Homewood Farmers Market, Everyday Cafe, and partner programs
- Inventory supplies and maintain organized storage areas
- Complete deliveries and data entry as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of wash areas
Field Work and Maintenance
- Support general farm maintenance, cultivation, and weeding activities
- Assist with transplanting, landscaping, and irrigation tasks
- Participate in pest management and crop monitoring
- Inventory tools and supplies to ensure farm operations run smoothly
Community Engagement
- Support farm initiatives and community partnerships as needed
- Assist with volunteer coordination, tours, programs, and special events
- Help maintain the farm, bioshelter, gardens, edible park, and orchard spaces
Additional Responsibilities
- Attend relevant trainings and meetings
- Contribute as an active member of the Bible Center team
Qualifications
Must Have
- Interest and some experience (0-1 years) in vegetable gardening, sustainable agriculture, or food systems - we provide training and mentorship
- Demonstrated commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to lead by example
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Access to personal laptop/phone for data entry and communication
- Must provide required background clearances (Federal, State, Child Abuse)
- Reliable transportation
- Curiosity and willingness to learn new skills
Nice to Have
- Experience or interest in community outreach, public health, or environmental justice
- Youth programming, volunteer coordination, or event planning experience
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work shifts up to 8 hours in all weather conditions
- Lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Comfortable kneeling and crouching for extended periods
