TGS Reading Intervention Specialist - Contracted Position

Compensation:
This position starts at $40/hour for between 10 - 20 contracted hours/week.
High School Inclusion or Reading Specialist
TGS embraces fully-inclusive classrooms with pull out support for goals on the IEP. Reading Intervention Specialists provide essential support to meet the needs of students with disabilities in the general education setting. Reading Intervention Specialists provide assessment services and, if needed, develop, implement, and supervise Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). In collaboration with classroom teachers and parents/guardians, Reading Intervention Specialists support and monitor student progress towards IEP goals for basic reading, and play a crucial role in communicating needs, services, and accommodations to staff and parents/guardians.
Reading Intervention Specialists must be patient, flexible, and empathetic when working with students, families, and colleagues. Additionally, Reading Intervention Specialists should possess strong organizational skills, be effective communicators and facilitators of large group discussions, and be able to speak and write clearly and succinctly using plain language.
Reading Intervention Specialists will:
- Serve as the case manager responsible for meeting the basic reading minutes students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP)
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all assigned students
- Plan challenging and engaging lessons based on the Common Core State Standards for small groups or 1:1
- Differentiate instruction to support all students in the learning process
- Plan, support and collaborate with fellow educators and staff
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student work and use data to guide instruction
- Communicate proactively and professionally
- Implement school-wide norms and positive behavioral interventions and supports in the small group setting
