Transitional Kindergarten Teacher

The Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Teacher provides high-quality instruction and a nurturing learning environment to support the academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of young learners who are not yet age-eligible for traditional kindergarten. The TK Teacher designs and implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum that bridges preschool and kindergarten, fostering skills in early literacy, numeracy, social interaction.    A full-time teacher who will be responsible for providing the educational program and who assists in other school programs as assigned. Major Duties: 1. Teaches language arts, social studies, math, health, science and art to students utilizing materials adopted by the California Board of Education. 2. Instructs students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of Butteville Elementary School course of study specified by state and district laws, policies and/or procedures. 3. Provides planned learning experiences in order to motivate students and best utilize the available time for instruction. 4. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student. 5. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. 6. Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, prepares progress reports, and communicates with other staff and parents on individual student progress. 7. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems. 8. Creates a functional and attractive classroom environment for learning through displays, bulletin boards and interest centers. 9. Maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and/or self-selected professional growth activities. 10. Performs basic attendance accounting services as required.
