Communications Intern
Help elevate the stories and impact of an innovative non-profit local news organization serving more than 50 communities across Georgia, Maine, and Colorado! You’ll have an opportunity to learn and execute across the entire communications lifecycle, from planning to creation to measurement.
Location: Remote (ET preferred)
Reports to: Director of Partnerships
Start: Rolling/ASAP
Your role
- Social media: Draft, schedule, and monitor posts for LinkedIn; propose a monthly content plan; respond to basic engagements
- Stakeholder communications: Draft impact updates and stewardship notes
- Newsletters: Refine, draft, and send out newsletters; track performance
- Basic design and publishing: Create simple graphics in Canva and format posts/emails for readability and accessibility (alt text, headers, links)
- Metrics / analytics: Track opens, clicks, impressions; surface insights to improve
You are
- Strong writer/editor with good instincts for audience and story
- Entrepreneurial and excited to experiment with content and find ways to grow our reach and engagement
- Familiar with LinkedIn and Mailchimp
- Familiar with Canva (or similar) skills for simple visuals
- Organized, deadline-reliable, and collaborative on a remote team
- Experience with or interest in social media strategy, especially for LinkedIn
- Interested in communications, journalism/media, or the nonprofit sector
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Compensation
- $25/hour, part-time (10–15 hours/week) for three months
- Fully remote
