AI/ML Researcher Intern

VanEck’s Summer Intern Program includes exposure across the firm through educational, mentorship, and networking events. The AI/ML group is a small, nimble team dedicated to discovering actionable insights hidden within complex datasets. Our mission is to develop cutting-edge AI and machine learning models that drive meaningful business intelligence. As a team, we work through the entire model development life cycle, from R&D to production solutions.
We operate in a collaborative, open environment similar to an academic research group, where ideas are proposed, discussed, and refined into useable solutions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Includes the following, other duties may be assigned as needed:
- Academic Research … finding and reading relevant papers
- Brainstorming … figuring out which methodology is useful to solve a given problem
- Prototyping … putting the theory into practice
- Documenting … writing white papers and journal papers
Qualifications:
- Roll up your sleeves work ethic.
- Evidence of original or independent research
- Experience with mathematical optimization, AI, machine learning and statistical modeling
- Ability to code in an object-oriented language (Python preferred)
- Good communication skills.
- Professional demeanor.
Education and/or Experience:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program focused on Computational Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research or Physics
- Some experience within a corporate environment is helpful but not required.
